Going through TV Tropes (a dangerous place for me who loves archetypes) – I followed a few favorite tropes which seemed to lead to Mr. Nobody that seems to have all of them in one place.
This, I’ll have to see. It apparently explores parallel universes simultaneously although I have a suspicion the message that will tie it together will be “choosing eliminates potential” which would be a little annoying if so, the “choose not to choose” answer.
That said, it seems to be an interesting sleeper.
Ok I’m enjoying it. It’s definitely my kind of movie. Its a great “I live in my head and this is what it’s like” movie. 10 minutes in but I was hooked from the start.
Lol there it is! Knew it! 20 minutes in, the character as a boy looks at a plate of eclairs vs birthday cake and in a whispery voiceover says “As long as you don’t choose, everything remains possible.”
Yeah, I’m liking it. Definitely a movie for theoretical physics junkies. Zachary Tanner Lyle Eli Quiroga Naveed Akhtar you’re just a few people I can think of that might love this movie if you haven’t seen it already.

you inspired me last night to go and watch a movie already. I keep not watching movies like it’s some kind of virtue but while going through time travel movies and tropes, I ended up here to a movie that’s my kind of quirky.
don’t know if you recommended this at some point or not but this seems to be in a similar vein to others you’ve mentioned, although this (so far) seems a little less dark (it’s light and quirky with lots of philosophical musings) but definitely contains the “living in one’s head” stuff.
[I didn’t tag everybody I can think of because that would be a long list. I’m counting on FB to be smart enough to figure out you’d like to see this post and will show it to you]
I’m watching it now., 20 mins in. Yeah, the trailer wasn’t entirely inspiring but the movie itself is a well-done sleeper.
He gets the sciencey-bits right so far, mentions “pigeon superstition” first thing and explains it, which is fun to see in a movie. Goes a bit over basic string theory/muliverse a few minutes in. It’s filmed in a very “in memories and the future everybody’s face is lit up so you see how wet the eyes are”, which is a style I like.
It’s about Matrix / Inception deep philosophically without the OMG WOAH moments [so far]. Feels with cerebral I guess? I dunno, I like it.
Ah! i got it. Dark comedy. That’s what this is.
anyway here it is. I don’t usually kill time with a movie (movies are a time suck to me) but I love that it’s hitting a lot of my favorite tropes.
Now it’s “The Wonder Years” if every possibility was explored. Coming-of-age. 40 minutes in.
