But… then there’s synesthesia.

Our brains routinely combine information from the different senses to produce images of a sort in the mind’s eye.

I can “see” heat. No eyes required. So can you, unless you have that awful condition where your nerves cannot see heat with.

A room with a temperature differential that you can feel with your skin, is emitting a color that is sensed by the nerves in your skin. A warm room will have a yellowish hue in its blackness. A cold room will have a blueish cast to its blackness. etc.
