Indeed. Everytime I hear someone talking about natural selection / tree of life, I cringe a little bit ’cause it’s more like a bush of life that keeps meandering along the ground, some shoots getting flowers, some producing fruits, some becoming evergreens, the root systems breaking off into clusters and different nutritional requirements.. and all and all not the neat and clean story of Darwin, which was fine for its day, but so was phrenology for its day.
