Hiring freeze on science departments starts sending things backwards, as key processes are now broken.

I’m in rant mode today. The gag order on the scientists really pissed me off yesterday and still does. I got my issues with scientists and the way they do things, but gag orders are a bit much.

I don’t even blame Trump for the gag orders. It’s the weasels he surrounds himself with that are so afraid someone else is going to say something Mr Trump doesn’t like, that they’re running around scared, issuing stupid memos.

I hope not either. Science positions take a long time to build up. It’s not a secretary position or middle management. Hiring freeze on science departments starts sending things backwards, as key processes are now broken.

Well, it’s the science culture I don’t care for. Publish or perish. The politics within the sciences. The way they have to customize grant requests to suit whatever’s faddish politically.

That sort of thing.

But I also see them as kind of sacred at the same time, despite all of that.

I think he needs money for his big promises and is pulling it from everywhere else.

It’s not really trimming the fat: it’s taking the fat and moving it to another part of the body.

Some people are content to “Wait” and see.
I’m seeing and commenting as it’s happening.

It’s xmas for congressional republicans. They get their every candy wish ’cause he wants their support for his pet projects.

I fucking hate that I have to care about politics now. But I never saw ANY party, Democrat or Republican, get ALL of their wishes come true.

I’ve been watching *this* Congress get all of their wishes come true.

That’s scary. Doesn’t matter which party: there shouldn’t be an “easy road” from House to Senate to President to Law.
