I can point you in the correct direction for your Trinity question so you can settle that mystery.  I’m not religious at the moment but was a quester for a long time and may return.  Raised Methodist, went through a bunch, found myself diving into Eastern Orthodox Christian stuff in my mid 20s – 30.  Their essence vs energies (Gregory Palamas) clarifies how transfiguration of matter and energy is possible, even for us right here and now.  Metaphor of the Sun vs sunlight points you towards the right way to think.  Church as medicinal is the correct metaphor, rather than transactional (economics)  Trinity is a systemic notion.  Think of an engine.  That’s the mechanics of it.  Theosis of which Christ showed us the template by being it.  Manifesting of the Holy Spirit as an Uncreated Light best described using Essence/Energies distinction. Mt Tabor is when visible.

This should be entirely compatible with your church and with your pastor without any issues and gets some of the movements of the Mystery a little less woo and into something actionable.  You have the right attitude and Love is the Uncreated Light.   All the best and I hope I provided some assistance on your journey.
