He’s got a new religion forming around himself. Hope he can handle his guru status and what goes along with it. His political rhetoric was dry, dull, rehashed complaints about universities, post-modernism etc that’s been going around for the past few decades. Boring. But he’s got his converts. Hope he can handle it. I don’t pay him much mind but I’m keeping a cautious eye on his devotees.

“He told me I should think for myself which is why I always think how he wants me to think. So inspirational”

The impressionable that listen to his spew is what concerns me. I’ve watched a few people “find themselves” through the glory of JP and it’s been disturbing to watch them turn into megaphones for his every utterance.

Peterson’s just got old man ideas. A lot of his followers are Bil Maher centrists. They’re tolerable. But it’s the toxic crew that latched onto him for their own quirky reasons that will wreck any hint of reputation he might want. But honestly, I don’t think JBP is qualified to handle the load of guru.

On what subject? What’s his strengths? Example: Hawking is an idiot when he talks about a) religion or b) robots.

Motivational speaking is motivational speaking. Anybody can do that. But what’s he smart about?

Or better: What’s he weak in? What subjects is he simply average about?

If you can’t identify his flaws in an objective fashion, you might be a devotee. You can like and admire someone but if you can’t hold him to an honest critique, you’re being taken in.

I’m not worried about Peterson. It’s his followers I’m concerned about. They’re popping up everywhere, including among long term friends that *should* know better.
