He won’t pay anything. That’s why his lawyers played incompetent and didn’t cooperate with the judge in any part of it.
They’re setting up grounds for appeal so that in the end, they won’t have to pay. They just have to get it shifted to another judge that’s favorable. This will drag on for years.
You’re focused on “freedom of speech”. But I see a lawyer’s game where the case itself doesn’t matter; they’re gameplaying the courts – common tactic

Difference: Alex Jones wasn’t the shooter. He didn’t kill the kids. He didn’t commit a crime like Cruz did. This was not a criminal trial.

Jones made millions of dollars making the parents of murdered children targets of harassment by saying their kids didn’t exist and that the parents were all lying actors and directly asking random people to harass them on his behalf.
Cruz didn’t do that.

A better comparison would be if a network employed a TV host that spent years giving the names and addresses of people, asking viewers to harass them for things they didn’t do.
“Tell them Jack from MSM News Show Sent ya!”
Did it for 10 years.
And then the people unjustly harassed sued the TV host and the MSM network and won.
That’s a closer situation. The Nick Sandleman kid is a closer analogy when he settled with a few TV networks.
