Hard thing for me: If I make a big announcement, I got what I wanted: Recognition and attaboy.
Then, I don’t follow through.
Then, I disappear and come back later with how complicated life was.
But, some say making big announcements works. It probably does. But I got my best work done in the dark, driven by obsession ’til I had a product that nobody saw coming. Probably ADHD.
Never understood career stuff. I just thought in terms of jobs or income. So, I’m not a good metric or guide. Not my world. Dipped my toes in for a few years but the creative compromise was killing me.
“Do what you love and the $ will follow” I see as a mythological pursuit. False carrot. So, I’m no help in this way.
Transferrable skills I understand though. Know HOW you process information, deal with people, work style, expectations — these are the things you can take with you and allows for flexibility.
If you have a weakness, build it up but focus on utilizing character strengths more and outsource what you’re weak at.
OF course that takes cooperation (from inspirating others) or money. Making a cult or a business venture. I’d probably go with “cult” but I’m adverse to having fandom.
