Happy Mother’s Day poem for my Mom 2015.

Wrote an awful poem for my Mom today.ย  Use it if you like. I like to share my worst and best, so here you all go.:
You could have been asleep that night;
Would an “I” still here, there be?
Without a Thou (or is it Thee?),
I can say with certainty,
There’d never be a “me”,
If you were not a she! ๐Ÿ˜›

But more than that you did, my Mom,
You raised me good and true.
Your heart broke more
Your love endured
You sweat more blood
Dealt with my crud
You didn’t walk away
You chose to stay
You made me who I am today,
and Mom? Glad you were not
Asleep that day.

I know I said that same thing twice.
But I wasn’t just saying it
To Be Nice.

Nature? Is it Nurture?
It’s both, they say,

and for ALL the Mother’s out there,
Besides my own,
Whether she or he,
or inbetween,

If you ever had your heart go out
And care for someone frail,
A Mother you are, in some kind of way,
And this day is for you as well!

I would have made the last line rhyme,
But I ran out of time.

Happy Mothers Day!
To Mom – [DLB}

and to anyone else who is also a Mom,
In some way, shape or form.
To be a “mother” does not mean,
You must conform to some “norm” –
Just a heart that hugs.
Yes, that’s it. Poem’s done. But the sentiment remains.
