Hampshire College got me full internet. 1990. I had dialup (1989) and access to BBS’s and PC-Link (online service with chat rooms and files sections and message boards) but 1990 Hampshire College got me regular internet email, BITNET relay chat, ftp sites, irc, LISTSERV, mailing lists, connections around the planet with real people I could never even think of getting to know before.
Sure, I had my classes and friends at campus.
But I lived in the computer lab. So for me, Hampshire College is what made me fully virtual
