Greed feeds on greed. People lose on fast-promise investments all of the time and promoters of Ponzi schemes should get punishment but only the most visible will. True believers I always feel a little pity for. I see with every scam, every political win (my [person] will keep promises), any “THIS TIME THINGS WILL BE DIFFERENT” scheme. But reasonable people are reasonable. Don’t invest more money / emotion / devotion than you can stand to lose. That sort of thing. So, lessons learned. If I was doing crypto, I’d consider just *starting* now, but on a drip a bit at a time in basis and no more than I could lose 90% of and be ok with. And people who ride upward trending waves? They sorta deserve the fall. What goes up, always comes down. Still, true believers in ephemeral things I’ll always feel a little pity for. It’s a hard lesson in whatever field.
