“Governments should just be there to facilitate and legitimize monies.”
Yes. I mean people have TRIED with Bitcoin/etc for an alternative. But THAT requires the cooperation of all kinds of governments including their manufacturing (chips) and services (electricity),
For example: If a nation said “no bitcoin here!” they could criminalize mining and other bitcoin operations very easily, ending the “alternative currency” project.
Bartering can be a nice one-to-one operation but hard to accomplish in reality most of the time. But a common currency is easier and common currency means “people in common” (communally, community, one-big-government-like), is a regulated product and service which makes the playing field of trade FAIR and JUST or at least tries to set the conditions for that to be possible, setting limits in the extremes.
However, to maintain a fair/just economy, requires force because people will try to take advantage of the system and rig it in their favor and if they don’t listen, they need to be taken down. So we end up with police/military/etc to help support property owners. And so on.
