good question. I hate losing data. I worry about the integrity of history, such as it is. I think this digital era, much of it, will vanish as it has already. i’m not comfortable with the ephemeral nature of things. I don’t believe in a platonic realm: we have to create it. there’s so much that goes through creativity. inputs transformed. Music plays, sound floats and if it doesn’t get heard, it gets so small it becomes part of the background. I feel the waves get smaller and smaller and nearly vanish. but not quite. I learned that “information cannot be created or destroyed” when i was young. but that was wrong and I knew it was wrong but I want it to be right. entropy. entropy is created from information. The information remains but it is inaccessible. if I do what I can to maintain the patterns that I am responsible for, then I will have done my part in keeping entropy at bay in some way for the parts that are in my domain, which is small but it is mine.
