Gender dysphoria is a bad problem for those that have it. There’s no equivalent for the other examples.
What makes gender dysphoria worse is there’s no relief from it. You can take anxiety meds but you still have a penis. You can pick up drinking but you still have boobs.
That’s why hormones and surgery works in a lot of cases. Not all but a lot.
I think so. I landed online with a group from ROCOR around 1994, which was linked to an extreme monastery in Alaska.
I was hooked, going to be the SUPER ORTHODOX CHRISTIAN, telling local priests what they are doing wrong, as they rolled their eyes.
It was fun. I didn’t go all-in – mostly in my head and around the house, although I did learn a bit of Russian and did a LITTLE monastery time.
I know too many who have it. It’s not what comedians and pundits say it is.
Suicide is the normal solution to gender dysphoria.
It’s not a want thing. “I don’t know why anybody would chose to be gay, it’s like, why not just get a girlfriend?”
I have a wide range of online friends. Keeps me from too much of a bubble.
Nice! I started veering away after getting a few stern warnings from local priests with a lot of background info I didn’t know about.
I found Osho after that, and then was Mr. Science, although I always was Mr. Science really.
If nothing else, I ‘get’ Trinity. Happened one night at the monastery I was at. (in Georgia of all places) Believing it or not didn’t matter but I was happy to ‘get’ the concept and how it flowed.
It was sort of a seeing the flow thing. Had similar “a-ha” moments contemplating complexity, or the moment where chaos emerges from bifurcation, just in a different context. Moving brain pictures / volumes I guess. No different from dreaming just awake but it’s a woah feeling while it happens.
I assume everybody has them now and again and just doesn’t talk about it.
I think there’s probably always been a lot of gender dysphoria but with no social outlet for it it just showed up in fetishes and bitter angry marriages.
an ASD link is quite likely. I have another case I know that fits that perfectly that I was about to write up, but this “ROGD” thing isn’t worth my effort to look at. I know of the real thing and ROGD looks like a smear thing.
Think logically: Do you think insurance companies would PAY for estrogen / testosterone / puberty blockers?
Therapists and counsellors are pricey. Who pays? Insurance.
The program they have to go through is extensive and costly. It’s not a whim thing and if it is, it’s unmasked long before the first pill is prescribed.
ASD and gender dysphoria is very logical.
I’d look at Oxytocin. Genetically low Oxytocin in particular. .
I’m not going to entertain ROGD. I’ll focus on GD and a possible link to ASD but ROGD isn’t worth my time.
You have political reasons.
I just want to see people get healthier.
Vets not commit suicide.
Folks with gender dysphoria get treatment.
Folks with diabetes to not die from lack of $$$ because NOBODY told them they could get Insulin OTC.
Medical costs in the USA to go down and be approachable.
All I know is GD is a real thing. ROGD can’t be.
If there’s gangs of kids banging down the doors of endocrinologists and busting through insurance company cubicles for support for a trendy thing I’d love to see it.
Dealing with US insurance and our healthcare system in general is a nightmare. You’re a dad and ought to know that.
GD is a medical issue and treated as such with all the red tape and frustration that goes with EVERY medical thing in the USA.
Like I said, I’m not even entertaining it. No medical association recognizes it. So for now, that invalidates it to me.
If you’re going to say that the medical associations are all left-wing fanatics I won’t entertain that either.
There’s such a thing as horseshit and occasionally I can smell it across the Wifi.
