Gardener himself had complained about people using his theory far beyond its intentions; many teachers have been applying it as “learning styles” to the point of hard-fixing it in to a student’s track: “He is an Auditory Learner. She is an Visual Learner” and designing curriculum around a mistaken idea.
Autism education in particular.
That’s not to say it hasn’t been USEFUL; the notion of a favored MODALITY isn’t really so strange; when it says I’m mostly Introspective and secondarily musical, vs the others, this is quite true; there are differences between them but the divisions are arbitrary, but then again, this is also been the case with many taxonomies
