Funny thing is, when the 1993 “DEATH OF THE INTERNET” thread was going on (I think I made a few replies on it myself), I was absolutely ok with all the new people coming on the internet. I didn’t like the tradition of torturing the new September netizens. I was spared it but seemed ridiculous to me. Of course I didn’t know that kind of thing would end up dominating some corners of the internet but that’s how things go. I was and am an internet advocate; even if it’s awful sometimes, I want everybody to at least get similar opportunities to what I had. I think mostly it’s the freedom to communicate to people about things that you simply can’t in most real life. I remember what it was like beforehand. internet’s better.
