For me, vigilantism seemed to rarely a heroic or honorable thing 1994, New Jersey passed Megan’s Law, where they published the names/addresses of registered sex offenders who served their time to the public Within a few weeks, a adult father and adult son decided to break into somebody’s home that was listed on the sex offender registry and violently beat up the first person they saw, believing that was the registered sex offender. Well, the sex offender wasn’t even at the house at the time and the person they beat up had nothing to do with anything; it was a guest that was sleeping over that night That set the tone for me and vigilantism. There were other cases as well but that was one of the strongest I remember.
