For many who are 8-14 years old, comedians become their sages and tell them about “life the way it really is”. Thank you Chris Rock.

I was hooked on standup comics when I was young; where I grew up was a hotbed of comics in the 1980s – New Jersey, USA, and they were like favorite Aunts and Uncles to me, telling me about “Life The Way It Really Is”.

Kids today have Chris Rock, which I’m really glad for. He’s popular among kids of all races but similar ages, and I’m a fan because I know the strong and positive influence an intelligent comedian can have on an 8-14 year old mind, as well as beyond.

Those are the years that parents and teachers often throw up their arms and go “ugh!” but popular entertainment fills in the gaps and becomes their teachers, prophets, and sages.
