Figuring out “gatekeeper” ancestors is tricky as you have to line up lineage side by side to see where it diverges, but I found one.
Whoever William Lawrence, Jr. my 13th great grandfather is…
1518 – June 30, 1582
Born: St. Ives, Huntingdonshire (Present Cambridgeshire), England, (Present UK)
Died : Huntington, Herefordshire, England, (Present UK)
I can tell you he’s a funnel that seemed to have gathered *all* the British Isles collection of various “royal lines” into him, to project it forward down a single 500 year line to me along with probably millions of other scattered cousins with similar backgrounds.
I don’t know if it’s true but I’d hears about a 500 year guideline where what happened prior ALMOST DOESN’T MATTER because of how family trees converge into focal points.
Well, after going through a dozen or so 24th great grandmothers (out of 530) to find a pattern, this is a pattern.
I’ll have to look more into this, but it’s really amazing and probably mathematical in some way. This bottlenecking simplifies things quite a lot, at least once you know who it is.
21 million descendants anyway probably.
