Well, I don’t think having things is inherently bad – but every item you own has to be cleaned, maintained, cared for in some way. It has to be stored and it should be used. Each item you own has both a market value (if you were to sell it) and an emotional value (the “why” of why you are keeping it) and they can each have $ signs attached to it. I haven’t read the minimalist book but I get the concept. There is definite security in ownership but of course its all in the mind. “
