Everybody else is either, “Oh, ok well, I guess we’ll deal”

I think the people still in shock are the ones that devoutly supported him through the campaign… but didn’t REALLY expect him to win.

Everybody else is either, “Oh, ok well, I guess we’ll deal” or “fuck that” but the ‘sinking in’ period was probably 5 seconds of, “O fuck, ok then” on election night then it was over.

oh yeah overseas they’re REALLY freaking out because they’re powerless… but I think they’ve been preparing their strategies for dealing with a T administration for some time now. They’ll be ready.

====

True. “Trump by narrow margin due to technicality of US election law while protests occur across the country” is kind of how they’ve been reporting this…. along with a lot of footage of the protests. Shows Trump is extremely weakly received by his own country and will continue to do so. Other countries are poised to take advantage of his administration. Show of strength *against* one’s own people is the sign of a weak leader and they know that.

A right-wing ‘win’ was expected anyway. Our parties usually ‘flip’ each time. I just expected the GOP to win by a landslide and not what happened.

====

You have a left wing president now right? [I don’t know much about your politics]. Yeah, it seems elections have been going ‘right wing’ lately. I guess it’s their time for a few years.

“Brandy Bland”? That name can’t be real. I think it’s another fake right post designed to make the left look stupid in two ways by the left sharing it freely and by the right going “lol, what a fake”.

I’ve seen a lot of examples of that strategy. Works well too.

and of course Shaun King would share it. He *did* do a decent job of reporting one particular BLM situation in a better way than I heard elsewhere, but he’s a sucker like a lot of media on the left and right. Definitely been an interesting season, although I’m starting to leave most political stuff behind. Other ppl can deal with it.

Yeah, when a BLACK guy became President.. the right had a fit. started Tea Party protests, talk radio went nuts.. and the republicans vowed to win both houses in 2010 and to block him at every turn. That’s just what they did, too.

—-

They did. He still did fine as a President considering the intense opposition he had.

I expect the same kind of thing will happen with Trump. First two years they’ll have the majority but a re-invigorated Democratic party infused with Progressive blood will take over Congress by 2018.

A lot of stuff is exposed raw this time around. I’ve never seen such a strong far left OR such a strong far right before.

Usually the hippies keep to themselves and the neo nationalists keep to themselves.

This time they were out in full force.

But the US government and most of the people are *still* mostly politically moderate. It’s just the moderates don’t usually speak up much. (what’s radical, divisive and exciting about moderate)?

====

There’s that. But if they’re strongly constitutionally based, it shouldn’t be TOO horrible. What judge would want to go down in history as being unconstitutional? They have their own legacies to worry about and don’t always ‘play nice’ once they’re in.

Besides, if Roe vs Wade is overturned somehow, there will be private networks to take care of women’s needs. It’d be a whole underground thing.

He didn’t get enough media press but also, the New York jewish accent might have turned off a lot of people Even more than that, and I’ve heard this from the older generation, he didn’t “look Presidential”.

Its amazing how much power his messy hair had.

I grew up hearing that accent because I lived not too far from there. But I suspect a lot of country didn’t like the ‘regional’ sound of it.

——

It’s true. It would just be little things I’d hear sometimes. “Oh, he really needs to comb his hair”. or “He wants to be President but can’t get a decent suit?”

=====

It’s not Trump himself that’s the issue. He wont’ really be there much. Pence will basically be running things. Trump will be a true figurehead.

Biggest concern though is the people who are inspired by Trump. He’s like a daddy to them. If daddy can say mean things, so can they.

What they’ll learn is that they can’t. But in the meantime, a lot of people will be suffering for it whereas previously a certain level of etiquette was expected by people.

It’s not a good time to be a single mother (or a woman in general), black, hispanic or from the middle east in the USA.
