Every dream I have is unique, as it is stitched together from metaphors used in the last two or two yet there’s often common themes that reoccur such as the awe of a new landscape or texture, or rich dialogue with characters, sometimes a punctuated plot that shifts but has goals driven by events that the environment attempts to thwart (such as needing to make a phone call as someone is badly hurt but I nobody has their cellphone and the only payphone is 1/2 way up a pole and covered in dense weeds and is ALMOST out of service but I can call a special 911 that connects to a Federal system that just barely hooks me into an operator that’s on the other side of the country)…..
and in this case as in most if not all, I’m both aware it’s a dream while also experiencing the stories.
This time, towards the end, I was gliding along the ground with a friend but the ground was all a heavy color mist rather than solid, almost water.
I was telling my friend so excitedly about this dream we were both in and describing my sensations, such as when the landscape, which was a suburban town with houses but with the streets as black mist and the grass as thick green mist as well as the sidewalks.
I remember kicking aside the mist we were gliding along at a fast but unstopping pace and showing my friend that there is an impenetrable solid black ground under our feet which is why we’re not falling – and it was a black blacker than I’ve ever seen, but it was as solid as anything and I could completely trust it.
Then the black misty street turns to snow of the same cloudy/watery texture and I’m telling my travelling friend that “wow, I can feel this cold snow with my left hand and arm, which means my hand and arm in REAL LIFE is ALSO cold and that I should wake up soon.
Then I was sad that although we were sharing a dream, my friend would remember none of what I was saying nor the experiences but I vowed that *I* would remember FOR him and tell him when we got to the other side.
At that point, my friend swim ahead in the street waters and turns into a golden retriever swimming far ahead and said, “Of course, you would turn into a dog and swim away, wouldn’t you?”
Then a phone rang in my dream as I approached my destination and my mind yelled, “OH NO THIS MEANS YOU’RE GOING TO WAKE UP NOW!” and so I did.
Sad that my friend could not take the journey to the other side with me to this world, I held true to my promise from the metaconscious dream me.
Thank you for traveling with me friend. It was fun having you in my dream. If you have read this, that friend was you, for it is you that I am keeping the promise to. Thank you.
