Ending of “The Electric Grandmother” (1982). [SPOILER] My first exposure to AI was a gentle loving grandmother-for-rent. One of the things I love about the internet is being able to track down that strange movie or video or song you once saw or heard a long time ago because if there’s something in your childhood that stuck with YOU, then it’s very likely it stuck with SOMEONE ELSE, who took the time to upload it somewhere, somehow. IN this case, the song sun by the Electric Grandmother when the kids are now elderly and need their grandmother again, the joy on their faces seeing her again after so many decades… it was one of those impossible moments that hit 10 year old me right in the feels. So now, I got to hear that song again and see the looks on their faces again, even though it was a TV movie from so long ago. I discovered it got 7.8 out of 10 on the imdb with 482 ratings. Not bad for a TV movie. I guess it hit a lot of other people right in the feels too and they found their old VHS, DVD, film copies and uploaded it. [I saw quite a few versions of it uploaded, from bad videotape to a warbly “straight from film” on the Internet Archive, completely with green ‘glue’ lines that all school films seemed to have]. This version had a decent quality and since I only wanted to see the ending again, that’s what I clipped and am sharing.

My first exposure to AI was a gentle loving grandmother-for-rent.

Oh yes! I saw that one later and it was great seeing a different version of it. After seeing the Twilight Zone version I went ahead and read the short story version ,which of course was a little different still but all great.
