e going down the “sometimes” path can often lead me to agreement in a place I would never have otherwise done so.

Still, my ears perk up when I hear absolutist words like, “solely” – even if tempered by “some”.

I get the feeling that I’m about to be led down a logical pathway that will irrevocably force me to conclude “something”.

I had a sister that would do that when she wanted something from me. I had training.

It would start small. Easy to agree to. But then next thing I know, I’d be giving away my favorite stuffed animal to her.

For me, I’d rather be absolute about the “can never be only” because going down the “sometimes” path can often lead me to agreement in a place I would never have otherwise done so.

So whether by training or reason, I stick to “sometimes solely” as the place I must say “no” to.
