Driving while sleepy is also a big killer. A lot of irresponsible things take place behind a wheel that result in injury or death. I’m not saying I agree with this per se, however it’s worth giving a deep thought as to the problems it’s trying to solve and why. Self-driving cars are very close to being the norm. And even for those that aren’t, the additional driver-assists being added will continue. If cars _do_ have a capability of “taking over” when someone is impaired, _if_ the technology of self-driving/driver-assist is mature enough, it may not be as drastic a step as it seems.
