don’t know what I’ve ever completed. I’ve recorded musical ideas, played piano or synthesizers in long rambling four/five hour sit downs and mostly take other music and do stuff to it, like extreme slow downs, or taking a vocal track and putting a different backing track to it for comedy… that sort of thing.
But just toying around. The kind of focus and dedication required to make something excellent to my satisfaction is something I don’t have.
Not sure tbh. I get an idea, “Hey I wonder if I could make Steven Hawking sing Bohemian Rhapsody”? I found someone *else*’s DECTalk code for the melody only (which would’ve been really dull), and ran it through an autotune plugin in Audacity that makes chorus. Threw it into Windows Movie Maker…
so I’d say probably about 90 mins or so.
Or one day I realized All Star has the same format as the Door’s Riders on the Storm.
So I slapped them together and it worked. Probably 1/2 hr. I couldn’t imagine working on an idea for a few weeks, months or years. Major ADHD.
I love getting sucked in. I figured out my pattern a couple of years ago too. Most things are about 90 mins from idea to done. But.. if I get pulled in, a single project will be 72 hrs non-stop just about (minimal sleep). I end up with stuff like this in the 3 day hyperfocus:
Anything beyond three days? I don’t know if I’ve stuck to one “What if?” longer and if do, it ends up becoming recurring life themes like “What is Time?” and stuff like like that.
