Every boy’s right to pee on a tree. It’s in our dog nature but we take it further. Brought nephew through that phase when he was 5+6. We live in the woods which makes it easier. Kid has to pee, “Go pee behind that tree over there”. I’d say. At first, quizzical, like I was asking something forbidden. Then after a year or two of tree peeing, with school, video games and sleep inbetween, he stopped. Now at 10 he wouldn’t even think of doing it. But he did once and _somewhere_ embedded in there, is a certain kind of guy-freedom.
Doesn’t seem like much but somehow it matters. Can’t even say why.
