Do you know how common (and pretty useless) an order of protection is?
Pretty common and pretty useless.
Can’t sue a police dept for failing to act on a restraining order.
Federal law. Applies to all states.
So, if you get a restraining order against someone, start hanging out with your local cops at the bar or get a PBA sticker on your car. Then maybe it’ll have some success.
There’s good police and good police depts out there of course. I’m just saying that its effectiveness is in no way a right. It “keeps honest people honest”, that’s all.
