I’ll drink a beer or two with other people but like you, only every few months. I have some Christmas beers still sitting in a cabinet, just waiting.
Tried the “get drunk to feel good” for a couple of years. Didn’t do much for me but spins, headaches the next morning, and regret. Wasn’t my thing.

I got my limit: It’s two of anything max. The driving manuals that say “2 max” are right. It’s 2 for me as well. Two whiskey, two beers, two wine, two cognac, whatever.
Then it’s water after that. I learned the right way to drink as a teenager, forgot, remembered, forgot, remembered, forgot, then remembered again. Each time I forget though, the time periods got shorter and the drunks got less spinny. Haven’t drunk much of anything for a few years now.
I was lucky though: alcohol was never my thing. Nicotine and caffeine are mine.

Well the important thing is you learned before you died or got disabled/disfigured.
Some people are functional drunks. For some people it’s poison. Most people are inbetween I think.
