Depends. I want to believe that I’d jump in and save the day but I also know that intervention can sometimes be harmful for without the ability to carry through with any followup, it could get worse due to my jumping in.
But thankfully, I can’t think of many times as an adult that I was faced with that. I know of one time that I didn’t and I still am haunted by my inaction. I was walking back from work (when in New Jersey) and saw what looked like a bunch of fourth graders surrounding and beating up what looked like a second grader.
I wanted to yell, “HEY HEY WHAT DO YOU THINK YOU’RE DOING” but I also remembered _being_ that 2nd grader and that payback (for getting help) was sometimes 5x worse, so I kept walking, pretending not to see.
So, what I _might think_ I’d do contrasts sharply with what I actually _did_ do. What would I do next time? If it was same situation, I’d like to think I’d play the noisy and nosy grownup and break it up. I chase bears off this property at least once a month. But humans are tricky.
