You use the wrong words that mean something different. It’s ok, you’re human. But that’s why your hill made no sense.

===

mumble mumble something about “engaging in good faith” hills. So, you’re CNN + Fox + Youtube with the clickbait – AND you get salty when you’re misunderstood. Amazing.

Hill: 2+2=Octopus!
Comment: haha i meant 4 but you know, Breitbart does it too haha.

===

I’ll be honest, I do it too – taking an exaggerated position to push forward discussion. I don’t do it so much here as this is a good faith group. But in a standard political discussion group? Sure.

===

Thing is though, like that PC post, you can’t assume people are going to read every comment. They shouldn’t have to.

The hill you declare *is* the hill you stand on.

If you want to clarify, edit it for the benefit of future responses. Conversations can go 50-100-200 comments.

I’m not saying this to criticize; it’s just a matter of less effective vs more effective communications.

===

You _could_ recommend that laissez faire outlook, but then it’s yet ANOTHER common shitposting group. Hard to find discourse groups that _also_ are loose enough for fun. This group has those qualities.

Oh by editing, it’s not ediiting “I was wrong”, it’s editing for further clarification and to counter common claims.

===

Take that to a further level and you become just another dog whistler though, calling out your own who understand. In-jokes that are kind of stale meat anymore, esp in politically charged discourse

But, to each their own.

===

You may or may not be. But you also can’t fully discredit people who are jaded by repeated exposure to *similar* looking behaviors for “if it quacks like a duck” responses.

Example: I get mistaken for all kinds of people online. To one, I sound like a sexist, egotistical bigot and on another day, I sound like everything anybody who considers themselves anti-SJW can’t stand.

Usually, I sound like Mr. Rogers with too much coffee.

Most people jump to judgement. I can artificially hasten their jump to judgement but when I do, I’m trolling, noble cause or not.
