Colin Gray, the 54 year old father of Colt Gray, who gifted the gun used in the shooting 6 months AFTER his son was investigated by the FBI and he defended his son when they asked if he knew Russian (the Discord accounts had Russian names) and stated that he keeps firearms away from his son, who was accused of threatening to sh__t up the middle school, may receive a maximum of 180 years in prison for his role in supplying a firearm to his child (again, after he should have known better than to do that).
I’m sure he never imagined his son would do that and ESPECIALLY never imagined that he would be facing the rest of his own life in prison. But he probably figured “kids will be kids” and didn’t take the investigation into his son seriously. Probably thought “f’them – can’t keep a boy and his gun away from each other. It’s every boy’s right to have a rifle and I’m the father and it’s my right to give it to him!”
Maybe not. I’m speculating. I’m surprised that Georgia is coming down on the father, as it _is_ indeed ok for a 14 year old boy to have a rifle, although I don’t know if there’s rules of what kind of rifle is allowed, but I think it’s a lax state for that.
But perhaps it is because the father is supposed to be responsible for the actions of the son, and perhaps having been visited by the FBI and lied about access to firearms (or willfully irresponsible), he’s held accountable in a significant way.
Do you think this is a correct course? Do you think it is a mistake? Some are claiming conspiracy on this one already (rather than recognizing that: “school started” which increases the likelihood of a school shooting) that it’s hand-in-glove for a gun-control talk (rather than it being what it is: push button REACTION to an event, which is to come out with “gun control” as fast as the other team says “thoughts and prayers”, each one barking up trees with no cats on branches.
