Historically, I trace it thusly:
Church denominations based on Calvinist branch are tied to Age of Reason thinking (which together form part of the basis for modern Education assumptions and Modern Scientific assumptions alike) and are all tied to medieval Latin (Roman Catholic) Apologetics, which in turn are based upon Scholasticism which was based upon fragments of Aristotle used in 11th/12th century early Western Universities (before they got the influx of the fullness of Aristotle and also Plato via the Byzantines meeting with the Latins in the otherwise failed Council of Florence, eagerly translated into Latin and vulgar, spawning the Renaissance and Age of Reason)….
Doesn’t take away from its usefulness. Logic’s really useful stuff. But as a basis for reality? Nah.
