Oh it is! I think quantum biology is an emerging field. I believe there’s a lot to be learned and there’s a lot of crossover.
I just don’t think that we’re ready to completely rest all of chemistry and biology upon quantum mechanics as it is today. Maybe someday. But as it is, the reason there’s still chemistry and biology departments and it’s not all just Physics is because it’s not quite robust enough to handle the strange things that seem to happen when you get to more and more macroscopic levels.
Chaos theory and complexity theory hold promise though. I have great hopes that self-emerging systems and better and better AI will eventually crack the code… and hopefully start to really tie it together.
I just… feel bad for the other sciences. They don’t get the proper respect they deserve because of the inspirational power that theoretical physics has. None of the other sciences can hold a candle to the religious feeling we get with quantum stuff.
