By the end of the story, I found out they weren’t just doing ordinary butterfly things

April 2013, I wrote my first (and only) short story using my (then) new iPhone 4s (now passed on) just talking into it. At first, I just wanted to test its ability as a ‘thought collector” and it worked well. [it was the first time I had a decent voice to text transcriber after many many years of messing around with Dragon Naturally Speaking and such on and off]

The story was about going on a journey, collecting butterflies and gently putting them behind me. They followed me on my long journey, carrying on behind me, doing whatever butterflies do, in their own communities.

I also collected other things like birds and bats as well.

The collecting wasn’t the main reason for my journey, at least I didn’t think so at the time.

By the end of the story, I found out they weren’t just doing ordinary butterfly things but had created something amazing that was completely transformational. I never had to interfere beyond the initial collection but because they went with me on my journey, my collecting and their experiencing my journey in their own ways through their OWN journies, something marvelous and truly novel was created.

So, this little quiet video speaks to me.
