I can’t see stereographs because I don’t have enough 3D cells in the back of my head. [they can’t merge into 3D but are rather monoptic or like cycops vision or a movie screen].
But yeah, whether a pattern is significant or not is opinion based.
At that level, I think the decision is pragmatic rather than scientific. One person or group may decide, “Not worth investigating”, another may decide, “It *is* worth investigating”.

The thing about pragmatic value judgements is that they’re not absolute. They’re situational. The mistake some people make is when they take a pragmatic judgement and try to turn it into an absolute fact. That to me is an error.

small good book that shreds a lot of scientific certainties. I loved the section on “time” if I remember right.
Certainty isn’t the kind of thing that belongs in the sciences. Rather it’s like firm sand. Build a house on it but always be ready for a wave to crumble away the foundation. But if you build it far enough away from the water, it can last a very very long time.
