The Christian group I was raised in (Methodist) didn’t talk about hell or any of that stuff, but they didn’t follow the Calvinist line of logic, which the OP does.
When I migrated eventually to the Eastern Orthodox for a time, how they explained hell was akin to natural consequence.
Their theology has God emanating essence and energies. God’s essence is unknowable, ineffable, beyond spacetime. But God’s energies are accessible.
The more you are in alignment with God’s energies, the more awesome the next stage of existence will be. [there’s nothing that says that that’s the final stage either, just the only one we have a clue about].
But if you’re not in alignment with God’s energies, well, it’s really going to suck because you’re not ready for it.
So, it’s seen more as physics.
Even the very name of the group “Orthodox” says it all. Right teaching. They believe they are exhibiting Orthopraxis – Right practice.
So, if you do things right while here, the natural consequences that happen after death will be pretty amazing. If not, it won’t be so pleasant.

Your spaceship is coming and will be exposed to large amounts of radiation and electromagnetic effects which will scramble up your thinking processes.
Since your body and mind is not ready to deal with these realities, you must start training.
If you don’t train properly, the radiation will burn you and your thinking will be painful. But if you learn to think and do things properly, you’ll be prepared.
It’s sort of like that idea.
