But having a great pencil doesn’t make for a great sketch and having a great sketch doesn’t always make a great painting and having a great painting is still not a photograph and a photograph is still not our impression of reality which still is not reality.

I think in the 90s with more powerful computers, math started to become ‘enough evidence’ in the minds of many. It’s tempting because it works so well for so many things.

But having a great pencil doesn’t make for a great sketch and having a great sketch doesn’t always make a great painting and having a great painting is still not a photograph and a photograph is still not our impression of reality which still is not reality.

But I understand the temptation.
