His “trusted obedience” flies in the face of basic child psychology.
Around the age of 7 years old, humans gain a social awareness. Within this social awareness, is learning something VERY VERY IMPORTANT:
“I can lie. I can have my own thoughts and nobody will ever know. I can pretend to comply while really thinking my own thoughts.”
Today with my ne who is 10 years old, I was helping him figure out a way he could “show his math work” (his school is Common Core alas) to the teacher, even though he did it in his head.
Back when he was 8, he bitched about “show your work”. He knew it was bullshit.
Blind obedience?
When?
Maybe before the age of 7. Maybe.
Beyond that? We have minds of our own.
