Being in the USA, the phrase “duty of care” was unknown to me for my whole life until a Doctor Who episode I saw in the past year.
He used the phrase “duty of care” and I had to look it up. What is that?
It actually blew my mind that such a concept existed like that.
I knew it by other names but it was more vague. Responsibility. Respect. Civility. Love. All good but vague.
Duty of care is a perfect concept to express this.
Why is not an American phrase?
