Been online since 1989 in lots of groups in lots of places. Yup.
Discord is a popular place for them as is Roblox but it’s been around from day 1 of online.
Also happens in clubs and organizations. Older leaders vs younger group. Group splits in two, etc.
Raids are sort of new to the scene though. First time I saw raids online was about 12 years ago, attempts to push in and actively take over a group using a Trojan horse from the inside. They’ve grown to become commonplace.
But this here looks like an opportunistic coup.
I usually bow out of a group when it happens and come back when it settles. Too much drama for my taste but I’ve been through a few and they suck.
Thanks. As far as FB’s “what’s appropriate / inappropriate policies”, I’m not happy with their application of them. They’re trying to reinvent the wheel, having a global corporate language policy that is least problematic to the most. It’s an impossible task but they can do better.
