I’m very glad it worded things in this awkward fashion as it tried to stay close to the notion of “single, objective truth” – which, in the case of literature interpretation which is what close reading and “listening comprehension” is all about – is SUCH an absurdity Learning about contextual interpretations as a teenager was like getting my world blown open in such a wonderful way because it’s how I natively thought yet there was school trying to pidgeonhole a kind of normalcy that needn’t be pushed
