Yeah – they’re pretty new. Atheists were usually globalist, humanist, Star Trek futures and stuff, right along side agnostics, scientists and mainstream liberal religious.
But I noticed that starting to change around the late 1990s. A stronger form of atheism started to emerge that I didn’t see before. It was probably always there, I just didn’t notice it. It gave me the sensation of being an “emerging religion” with the feel of right wing fundamentalist Christian but without the Christianity. Similar politics though. It was strange to me.
Then I started seeing atheist nationalism, which previously was tied into fundamentalist religions. I didn’t expect that either. So, there’s definitely new movements on the world stage that didn’t seem to be there previously.
