I wonder, Nina - if you come across any other references to Memory in the Fathers, could you post it? As I am currently doing whatever I can to work on my memory, this definately opens up windows for me. Focus on God, and other aspects of memory that I'm struggling with (that is, trying to recollect fragments in recently returning to school again, instead of being one-pointed and focused on God. If I were focused on God, the other aspects I'm trying to gather together would necessarily fall right into place, no?) -Ken
“The source and ground of our distractive thoughts is the fragmented state of our memory. The memory was originally simple and one-pointed, but as a result of the fall its natural powers have been perverted: it has lost its recollectedness in God and has become compound instead of simple, diversified instead of one-pointed.
