As hard as I try to distract them, it always returns to the script.

“I’m agnostic”.

Those two words set off a guaranteed script to follow.

As hard as I try to distract them, it always returns to the script.

It takes a LONG time and a lot of patience to get them off of the script. I usually have to run it to completion, by allowing them to put a badge on my chest calling me “Theist” or “Atheist” and then they’re happy, and I usually get a friend-request.

Still though, it’s frustrating. If *I* was being predictable – and if I am, PLEASE TELL ME.

The trivialising is part of the script. “If enemy makes significant point, minimize its impact by making them feel stupid.”

I like to say that the amount of knowledge that we have pales in comparison to the amount of knowledge we don’t yet have. That’s enough for my awe and wonder machine to kick in and I say “Thank You” as often as possible. I don’t know what/who/if the “You” is and it doesn’t matter. I’m a tiny speck and there’s a lot more “not-me” in the Universe than “me”, and I’m grateful to be here, by whatever means.

Some people are offended by the word God? Ok, I won’t use that word. I even call myself Agnostic. It’s a safe enough word and can piss off all sides equally that want me to “admit” something.
