As an aside: I give unsolicited correction freely. I already do what you are advocating. I am a “know-it-all” and I am aware that it is considered a moral failing.
So there is nothing at all ironic about me doing it. It is what I do.

You may be mixing up description with advocation, I’m not sure.
I’m not advocating any behavior. I am describing what I see the problem is that you are trying to solve.
I am not against what you are advocating. However, I see a flaw in description of the problem; much is left unsaid that needs to be clarified. I am attempting to clarify but hitting strange walls here.
Is this a correct description in the picture below?

Unsolicited correction is possible on Facebook, yes.
You first have to know if correction is not solicited in a particular case.
For example, if you are in a group that indicated that unsolicited correction is not appropriate, then you follow the law of the land.
===
Of course it makes sense. But first it has to be established that unsolicited correction is generally abnormal and unwelcomed.
In non-academic life, non-online life, unsolicited correction is generally abnormal and unwelcomed.
Online, however, part of what makes online special, is that such behavior _is_ accepted by default unless specified otherwise.
—
There’s no “merely” about correction though. Online, academic, ‘real life’, correction invites argument.

A single “actually” can start feuds in any space that lasts for years.
What makes online special – and academia – is that fighting is commonplace and tolerated.

What is accepting correction? Hearing someone respond, and then not responding in kind?
—
Bob says A.
Alice responds to Bob with B.
Bob says nothing in response to Alice.
===
That’s appropriate in a student/teacher relationship.
===
You want people accept your authority in the subject matter you are speaking of. In a broader sense, allow for an environment of experts and students online.

Or, in an ideal form of this notion, everybody is both a student and a teacher and knows when it is the right time to be a student and when it is the right time to be a teacher.
