as a kid, before I knew about the name-games of politicians, I used to think: “What’s the point of being a cartographer? Maps never change”. Then the Soviet Union fell and all these countries from ancient maps were resurrected. Then new countries appears in various places. Then African Continent started having all kinds of changes as new regimes took over and fell and new ones arose, and fell. and so I realized that being a cartographer could be interesting.
