He made a lot of assumptions that turned out to be correct and some that were a little too simplified. the area that interests me where the CA3 is the archicortex, which is the same as the hippocampal formation in. humans (but different in other animals) modeled by Marr as “simple memory that consolidates when you sleep at night”. today the Denate Gyrus corresponds to “codon” and CA3 corresponds to “output” in his model from 1971. his simple memory is now called “episodic memory”. as it leads to long term memory as part of its process.
