I hope so
Some of the quantum theories that are out there, I see as fancy replacements for the aether honestly. There may be some hope for a modified aether theory but they will never call it that… too many years at stake patting ourselves on the back that “hey we used to be stupid but we’re smart now” to go back. Same with homonucleus… which still has plausibility if modified… but we’re too wrapped up in computations modelling at present anyway.
The dark matter/dark energy seems like a ‘duh’ moment in theoretical physics – where they SUDDENLY REALIZED, “oh wow, we can’t see everything – can we?”
I believe we need neutrino vision myself. But that’s hundreds of years away. We rely too much on photons. They’re too “big”. Plus we have to get the heck OFF EARTH more – how much are we supposed to see from down here?
I tend to think there’s a kernel of truth in dark matter/energy -but a lot of it is likely the result of an overreliance on statistical modelling in general, but then that goes into my Math Rant and I’m not gonna get myself started there again
And yes, I’m hoping for a deeper theory as well. We’ve barely scratched the surface of reality and we’re already declaring victory too soon yet again.
