Voting has less direct action on the activities of local law enforcement activities. Some? Sure. But every political system has law enforcement. The ultimate law enforcement has “by any means necessary to enforce the law”. All the politicians can do is curtail their maximum.
Also, law enforcement’s job is *not* to keep the neighborhoods safe.
It’s to enforce laws. Keeping neighborhoods safe is a nice side effect when it happens and great public relations but that’s not their job.
Law enforcement doesn’t have the same restrictions that courts have either. “Innocent until proven guilty” is only in a court of law. If law enforcement are allowed to enforce the law in such a way that someone never *gets* to the court system, well, that’s just street justice isn’t it?
